“...The threefold tasks are (1) spiritualizing the sciences (2) sanctifying the Earth and (3) helping to counteract the worldwide danger threatening man's nutrition. Rudolf Steiner said that “not only was the moral development of humanity degenerating in the present age of life; but that what man had made out of the Earth itself and out of what lies immediately above it is also in the state of rapid degeneration.”
Steiner went on to say that the forces which must be drawn from the Spirit are still quite unknown today; through the discovery of these forces, the life of man in the physical sense could then continue on Earth. It is our job as biodynamic practitioners to produce food and medicinal products that enable people to wake up! To engage their “I”, their Christ Consciousness; to engage in the spiritual fight for the improvement and advancement of the human condition. God grants man graces every day in much the same way as the cosmos radiates life force from the periphery of the universe to the point known as earth.
And much like the preparations in the biodynamic compost piles and the preparations sprayed upon the land and plants act as receptors and activators of those forces that Steiner opines about in the Agricultural Course - man's “I” or ego or Christ Consciousness is activated in part by the consumption of biodynamic products in such a way as to engage in and or reflect the likeness of God.
The ultimate job of the biodynamic farmer acting in a priestly fashion for the land is to help others by growing food, beverages and medicinal substances that when consumed heal the body, temper the soul and enlighten the spirit. As a biodynamic farmer performing my priestly duties towards the land entrusted to me, I work to co-create a farm that becomes a one-of a-kind symphony, performing in the greater cosmic harmony of the spheres amphitheater.
God writes the musical score represented by the 12 terroir of the land, the climate, the seasons, etc. The plants and animals, both domestic and wildlife, and the soil organisms that make up that threefold nature of the farm - its emblematic icons being the earthworm, the cow and the bee - who represent the symphony of instruments, and all of these activities under the direction of the farmer as a conductor. Consider this final thought ; the glory of God is man fully alive. Biodynamic agriculture is the very key to that thing called “the Glory.”
